The Village Art Fair and Labor Day

Yesterday, I went to The Village Art Fair in San Clemente, CA from around 9:00 am to noon. Tents and tables were set up on the sidewalk along Avenue Del Mar. I enjoyed browsing the handmade mosaic signs, the photographs and paintings, the jewelry, the ceramics and blown glass, and home goods, like candles. It was apparent that the beach was a common motif in the products. There were also a few people selling clothing and fewer people promoting organizations. By noon, I had bought two rope-looking bracelets, one with starfish charms for my friend, and the other with shell charms for myself; a small bar of charcoal and tea tree oil soap; and a simple leather bracelet with a bronze hook as its distinct feature. For a person who rarely wears jewelry, it is strange that I brought just that home. The jewelry stands attracted me the most because I adore cute things, but I better make an effort to wear my new bracelets regularly. It would suck if they were contained in a small box, never touched, never worn, never living as bracelets, never seeing the light of day again. Sigh.
The Sunday farmer's market was nearby so I stopped by for some fruit. Plums!

Today is Labor Day!!! What do people do on Labor Day? Usually Americans jump on the chance to have a nice barbecue party. Earlier I celebrated, you could say, with a family trip to Costa Mesa, buying stuff at a Japanese bookstore, Kinokuniya, located in a grocery store, and some ramen for lunch. And what is waiting for me due to procrastination? Labor! Yup, I still have some homework to do. Is this what they call junioritis? Senioritis, except for juniors? It is a bit too early in the year for that!
